She is a curator and the director of Associação Cultural Videobrasil. She created and is the chief curator of the International Contemporary Art Festival SESC_Videobrasil, which has become a reference for artistic production from the geopolitical South of the world (Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, part of Asia, and Oceania) and brought exhibitions of renowned international artists, such Akram Zaatari, Bill Biola, Gary Hill, Peter Greenaway, Marina Abramovic, Olafur Eliasson and Walid Raad. Besides the Festival shows, Farkas is responsible for exhibitions like Sophie Calle’s Take Care of Yourself (2009) and Joseph Beuys – We are the Revolution (2010-11). In 2012 she was curator of Isaac Julien: Geopoetics, first solo exhibition of the British artist, featuring three decades of production, held at SESC Pompeia, São Paulo, and SescTV.As guest curator she participated of the 10th Sharjah Biennial (United Arab Emirates, 2011), the 16th Cerveira Biennial (Portugal, 2011), the 5th Videozone: International Video Art Biennial (Israel, 2010). In a career that spans twenty-five years, she has been at the helm of exhibitions such as the Pan-African Contemporary Art Exhibition (Salvador, 2005); La Mirada Discreta: Marcel Odenbach & Robert Cahen (Buenos Aires, 2006); Roteiro Amarrado (Tied-up script, featuring Eder Santos works, CCBB Rio de Janeiro, 2010); Suspensão e Fluidez (Suspension and fluidity, ARCO, Madrid, 2007), focusing on the work of Brazilian artist Eder Santos; and Mostra Africana de Arte Contemporânea (2000), together with curator Klive Kellner, featuring artists like Willian Kentridge, Zwelethu Mthethwa, Sue Williamson, Oladele Ajiboye Bamgboye and Kendell Geers. As the director and curator-in-chief of the Museum of Modern Art of Bahia from 2007 to 2010, she promoted exhibitions by artists such as Bob Wolfenson, Carlito Carvalhosa, Claudia Andujar, Chelpa Ferro, Daniel Senise, Tatiana Blass, Thomaz Farkas and Mario Cravo Neto. Among her latest collaborations, she was curator at shows such as 3rd Festival for Video Art in Macau (China, 2012) and Screen from Barcelona Festival (Spain, 2012), and also lecturer (University of Westminster, London, and Museu da Gravura da Cidade de Curitiba) and author for N.Paradoxa Vol. 31 – Africa and its Diasporas (London, 2013). Was also invited to be part or the prizing jury for the 14th Videonale Bonn (2013, Rotterdan, Holland). Recently (2013) participated of a programming in homage to Videobrasil at the Festival de la Imagen, Manizales, Colombia, as a curator and lecturer at international seminar. In the 2013 second half, FUSO, a yearly video art show in Lisbon, and the 6th Jakarta International Video Festival have segments curated by Solange Farkas, who also select the works for Alfabeto Infinito, solo show of the Brazilian duo Angela Detanico and Rafael Lain, at the Fundação Iberê Camargo.
