Associação Cultural Videobrasil

The Videobrasil Historical Collection, comprising artworks from all past Festivals, is the starting point for a project that saw students in the final semester of the undergraduate course Art: History, Criticism, and Curation at PUC-SP curate the video exhibits “The ‘South’ Is Everywhere;” “Let Me In!;” and “Routes of Submission.” The programs include 14 works by artists from Brazil and other Global South countries, dating from 1985 to 2014. Under the guidance of professor Cauê Alves, in partnership with Jardim Miriam Arte Clube (JAMAC)—which also creates audiovisual products—, the project had sessions at the JAMAC headquarters on November 26 and at PUC-SP’s Consolação campus on December 1 and 2.

The project’s goal is to create a space to explore the formative role of the organizations involved and to encourage collective conception, discussion, and development of contemporary art curation projects. On completion, besides the featured video programs, each group will have created a mapping on PLATFORM:VB based on their curatorial processes, thereby enhancing the university’s connection with this educational tool from Associação Cultural Videobrasil.
