Talk with Gabriel Bogossian, Jorge La Ferla, and Juliana Gontijo
During the closing event of Resistir, reexistir, the curator Gabriel Bogossian will welcome the Argentinian professor and artist Jorge La Ferla and the Brazilian curator and researcher Juliana Gontijo for a debate about the exhibition and the Latin American artistic territorialities.
ABOUT THE PARTICIPANTS:
Gabriel Bogossian
Editor, manager and curator, Gabriel Bogossian is assistant curator at Galpão VB. He worked as a curator in the exhibitions Território, Povoação (Blau Projects, São Paulo, 2016), with Juliana Gontijo; Cruzeiro do Sul (Paço das Artes, São Paulo, 2015); and Transperformance 3 – Corpo Estranho (Oi Futuro Flamengo, Rio de Janeiro, 2014), with Luisa Duarte, among other shows. He has collaborated as an editor and translator with the publishing houses Rocco, Hedra, and the University Press of the Federal University of Pernambuco.
Jorge La Ferla
Jorge La Ferla is an artist, researcher, and professor. He is licensed by the Paris VIII University, and has a Master in Arts from the University of Pittsburgh. La Ferla was an important promoter of video in his country, creating the Videocuadernos—the first publication specialized in video, television, and electronic image—and the Videoespacios, the first permanent cycle of video creation. Since 1994, he is the academic coordinator of the Seminars in Video, Cinema, and Experimental Multimedia promoted by the Antorchas, Lampadia, and Rockefeller foundations, gathering artists and specialists from all over the continent. From 1995 to 2002, La Ferla presided over the Muestras Euroamericanas de Cinema, Vídeo e Arte Digital, from the University of Buenos Aires, where he is a Titular Professor. For the same institution, he worked as an editor in publications on cinema, video, TV, and multimedia, and has articles on video and electronic art published in many countries. He lives and works in Buenos Aires.
Juliana Gontijo
Juliana Gontijo (Rio de Janeiro, 1980) is a researcher, professor, and independent curator. She earned a doctorate in Art History and Theory from the University of Buenos Aires and holds a degree in Cinema Studies from the University Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris) and in Art History and Archeology from the University Le Mirail (Toulouse, France). She has coordinated several exhibitions at the Fundación PROA (Buenos Aires), FUNCEB (Buenos Aires), and other independent projects in Argentina and Brazil. She is the author of the book Distopias tecnológicas (Editora Circuito, 2014). Among the leading exhibits she has curated are: Instabilidade estável (Paço das Artes, São Paulo, 2014), ALTERMÁQUINA (Instituto Di Tella, Buenos Aires, 2015) and Território, Povoação (in collaboration with Gabriel Bogossian, C.LAB Prize, Blau Projects, São Paulo, 2016). Gontijo is the current projects coordinator of Casa Tomada (São Paulo).
