Your body of work is a depiction of the artist’s process of becoming familiar with the city of São Paulo, as he takes a sensory approach to scientific and philosophical issues. This bilingual edition includes photographic essays of the installations featured in Brazil – such as Waterfall, Take Your Time and Your empathic city, a collaboration with filmmaker Karim Ainouz –, and of the Your new bike intervention, in which the artist experimented with mirrors at different city locations.
Essays by Lisette Lagnado and Guilherme Wisnik relate Eliasson’s work to contemporary Brazilian manifestations in fields such as art and architecture. In an interview to the book’s curator and organizer, Jochen Volz, the artist discusses his perceptions of the city, the spaces occupied by the show, and the role of art in our times.
